Getting to and from school safely

As a parent or carer, it’s your responsibility to get your child to and from school safely. Student safety is our priority.

Keep our school community safe by:

• driving and parking safely, even if it means parking further away and walking the rest of the way to school
• being a good role model
• never calling your child from across the road
• using the safest place to cross the road.

For parents and carers of younger children

Discuss with your child how to be safe when:

• walking
• in the car
• waiting for, travelling on, and getting off the bus
• riding bikes, scooters and skateboards.

Also talk about and practise:

• safe travel routes
• plans for when unexpected things happen
• what to do in wet weather.

Subsidised school travel

Transport for NSW provides subsidies to assist school students.

• The School Student Transport Scheme provides eligible students with free or subsidised travel on public transport between home and school.
• The School Drive Subsidy may help towards the costs of driving children to school if you live in an area where there is no public transport.

School buses arrive and leave from entrances on Faulkner and Dangar Streets. 

Edwards Coaches provides services within Armidale and outside of town.  They have provided a 2019 timetable covering their bus services and the appropriate pick up and set down point for students at Armidale City Public School.  Edward's can be contacted on 6772 3116.

Jeffery Buses offer an out of town service to Black Mountain, Guyra and Llangothlin.  The bus picks up and sets students down in Faulkner Street. The company can be contacted on 6771 3083 or 0408 660 524.

WJ & GL Lowrey offer an out of town bus service along Rockvale Road to Camperdown.  The bus picks up and sets down in Faulkner Street.  The company can be contacted on 6771 5156 or 0467 579 997.

It is important that the school is advised of any change of address to ensure that we can approve applications for bus passes sought through Transport for NSW.
