NAIDOC Week Story - 2021
Our Indigenous students in Stage 3 met in Term 1 to discuss some important projects for them during the year. It was here that they talked about developing a literacy project where older students would help out the younger students in areas of reading.
Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from Kindergarten to Year 6 spent the next few weeks developing a resource that was used in the school during NAIDOC week .
The students used skills they had developed in class to create this digital version of how the Kangaroo got its tail. They retold the story and coloured the backgrounds that were designed by Miss Liv. Mr Ford then worked with the student on implementing the local Aniwan word for kangaroo- Mbwanda into their story. The Stage 3 students read parts with students across the school, recorded these parts, coloured and photographed the backgrounds and compiled each part of the story. They then recorded a Stage 2 student playing the didgeridoo to add to their presentation.
Our students are so proud of what they achieved and we think the results of their hard work is fantastic.
